The task was to design a flexible floor plan so that the end-user can decide on the space that is required after the construction of the basic structure. The front elevation was designed with multiple smaller curvilinear and some rectilinear forms to create a free flow of massing. The plan is a clear organization of retail components, allowing shoppers three points of access.
St. Peters & St. Pauls Church was designed for a small congregation with a more intimate feel, fostering a sense of community and a personal relationship in a rural space.
Memorials are anchors to the past. The invasion of Kerala by Tipu Sultan of Mysore coined as “Tipu’s Padayottam” in the latter half of the 18th century left a deep impact on Kerala’s polity and Society. St. Mary’s Cathedral, Arthat wanted to dedicate a Memorial for those who died in martyrdom for Christianity during this period. A large, imposing modern brick structure has been designed as the memorial. A gallery across the back and along the walkway depicting the events in mural art has been proposed.
Aptly named, The Brookside Club plays on the concepts of authenticity, comfort and simplicity aiming to create a space for the community with Café, Badminton Courts, Indoor Games, Gym and so on. Located in the suburbs of a quiet village near a water body, the design opens out to capture the beautiful moments of nature. Textures were naturally created; Unplastered brick walls added to the charm of the tone of earth. A rich palette of materials was chosen and discrete lighting designed, to provide a club atmosphere that is welcoming and robust.
The Royal Club is one of the few social clubs in Kizhakkambalam. The Project Brief was to create a space that enabled the members to maintain the high standards of services that the Club prides itself on. During the design, we focused on the user, employing human-centered design thinking.
